Get to know the Real Milwaukee

Braise is one of America’s 10 Best Roof-to-Table Restaurants.

Looking beyond the meeting agenda for an authentic experience in a host city? You’ll find it in Milwaukee. We’re a city that has built on what we are – our unique history, natural assets and culture – and made it even better. There’s no made-to-look-like, but self-made, a proud “indie” spirit which has preserved our character and identity and translates to our own brand of fun and value.

Chain restaurants with a coast-to-coast personality? They’re hard to find in downtown Milwaukee, where our burgeoning restaurant scene is dominated by creative and collaborative entrepreneurs – several James Beard-recognized – with their own distinct take on local flavor and cuisine.

The spirit of Milwaukee’s first brewers, Miller, Pabst, Schlitz and Blatz, lives on in local micro-breweries like Lakefront Brewery with its Trip Advisor-crowned brewery tour.  And the beer hall culture of the old breweries carries into the present with a full summer line-up of music and ethnic festivals and free outdoor concerts.

Milwaukee’s German heritage is alive and well at the landmark Mader’s.

A three-mile Riverwalk along a river busy with boats and kayaks connects revitalized and thriving neighborhoods like the Historic Third Ward, where original rusted metal awnings of this former Commission Row provide a unique backdrop to outdoor dining and shops. The ward is home to the colorful Milwaukee Public Market and to more of the lovingly preserved, “Cream City brick” buildings that you’ll find throughout the city.

Milwaukee doesn’t shirk from its German heritage, but embraces it. Just blocks from the convention hotels along lively Old World Third Street, you can try an iconic brat-and-a-beer at a German-style pub or restaurant, buy some great Wisconsin artisanal cheese, but also get your team together for “pong action” at a lively table tennis bar/restaurant.

Even a major Milwaukee attraction like the Harley-Davidson Museum® reflects our unique history as the home of Harley and brings it into the present with an exciting, one-of-a-kind, interactive experience, drawing motorcycle enthusiasts and visitors from all over the world.  Event space at the museum is sought after by meeting planners for guaranteed Milwaukee-style fun, dancing, iconic foods and of course, locally brewed beer and soda.

The Milwaukee Art Museum is an architectural marvel.

We’ve made our Lake Michigan shoreline even better by improving this green, coastal parkland with a network of trails ideal for running and biking. New investment into expansive Bradford Beach has built on this natural asset and made it a go-to beach volleyball venue, perfect for team-building fun.

And no city has the Milwaukee Art Museum, with its with giant wings that open and close.

If you need more reasons to choose Milwaukee, just talk to us. We’re famous for chatting up visitors, making them feel at home and inviting them to join in the fun.  And we’ll tell you how we’re naturally a thrifty bunch and refuse to pay Chicago prices.

Does Milwaukee have a great, value-driven convention and hotel package, all within a safe, walkable downtown, and an airport only 8 miles from the city center? Yes, but you’ll also find plenty of real Milwaukee fun and personality to make your convention here the one your attendees will go home talking about.
