Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Raffle Wins Big for PCMA Foundation

VISIT Milwaukee and Bill Davidson draw lucky winner in Austin

MILWAUKEE— (January 11, 2017) – It’s not often that Bill Davidson himself presents you with your hot-off-the-assembly-line H-D FLHX Street Glide motorcycle. Davidson joined VISIT Milwaukee at the annual convention of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) in Austin to hand over the keys to the lucky PCMA Foundation raffle winner on Tuesday.

Thousands of convention and meeting planners, along with representatives of destination marketing organizations, are in attendance at PCMA’s annual “Convening Leaders” convention from January 8-11, acknowledged as one of the premier meetings industry conventions.

This year VISIT Milwaukee stepped up with the idea of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle raffle in support of the PCMA Foundation’s annual fundraising effort associated with the convention. The foundation is committed to professional development through grants for scholarships, educational programming and research for innovation in the meetings industry.

According to Paul Upchurch, president & CEO of VISIT Milwaukee, “We were happy to play a big part in this annual fund drive, which has brought in more than $40,000 to the PCMA Foundation, one of the highest grossing results in recent years. Our thanks go out to our local partner, Bill Davidson, for his willingness to help us in this effort.”

Bill Davidson, great-grandson of one of the co-founders of Harley-Davidson and current Vice President of the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee, travelled to Austin to support the fundraising effort and help promote Milwaukee as a convention destination. Opened in 2008, the museum is the only one of its kind and has put Milwaukee on the map as the mecca for Harley-Davidson enthusiasts and visitors from around the world. Also popular as an off-site meetings and reception venue in Milwaukee, the Harley-Davidson Museum offers a fun, dynamic atmosphere with flexible indoor and outdoor space for groups from 10 to 10,000.

VISIT Milwaukee invited the lucky winner of the motorcycle – Valerie Sumner, principle, VRS Meetings and Events, Inc. – to take the legendary Harley-Davidson “ride home” to Milwaukee with her meeting business!
