Paul Upchurch re-elected Tourism Board Chair for 5th consecutive year

MILWAUKEE— (January 31, 2017) – Paul Upchurch, president & CEO of VISIT Milwaukee, has been re-elected chairman of the Wisconsin Governor’s Council on Tourism for the fifth consecutive year.

The Governor’s Council on Tourism is tasked to be state Department of Tourism advisory board. The Council includes members who are appointed by the Governor from all around the state that range in areas of expertise and include legislators, hotel owners, chambers of commerce leaders and theater owners. Members also serve on subcommittees dedicated to grant reviews, general marketing, meetings and conventions, and sports marketing.

“Congratulations to Paul Upchurch on his well-deserved re-election as Chairman of the Governor’s Council on Tourism,” said Wisconsin Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett. “Paul’s strong leadership and insight have been a big asset to the Governor's Council and Wisconsin's Tourism Industry as a whole” added Klett. “We’re thrilled to have his continuing expertise and vision in the years to come.”

Tourism is Wisconsin’s second largest industry, with a $19 billion economic impact and supporting over 190,000 jobs statewide. Milwaukee represents the largest tourism market in the state with a $5 billion economic impact, supporting 50,000 full time jobs.
